Seniors Daily Stretching Routine
Stretching It’s a must, and how to stretch properly is most important.
As you get older you start to lose some of your elasticity, but to slow that process
down you could start a daily stretching routine.
Most people, at some time in there lives have done some stretching in one form or
another.
It is important that you keep your body flexible.
If you set yourself up with a good stretching routine, you not only are flexible, but
you also make your self stronger.
There are hundreds of books and CD’s which explain the different techniques.
If you look at the animal kingdom you will see dozens of examples of stretching
movements.
A cat comes to mind first.
Mother nature hard wired all animals to stretch and be supple.
If you can get into the habit of stretching everyday you will decrease your chances of
injuries.
Stretching also keeps your tendons and ligaments from being torn or ripped from
sudden movements you might have threw the course of any routine day.
You should always warm up a little before you do any stretching to get your blood
pumping to all parts of your body, as you age it’s always best to take every precautionyou can to avoid injuries.
In later segments I will give you some different stretching movements.
One you could do right now is touch your toes, bend at your waist let your arms drop
as far as possible, breathe out on the way down, this will stretch your
hamstrings(back of your legs) your lower back and also your neck area.
Make sure you know how to stretch properly before any kind of physical activity.
Don’t bounce when you stretch, a slow but deliberate stretch pushing a little further each time will do the job.
The main thing is to start.
